The Inspiring Poem Don’t Quit

Filed under: Enthusiasm, Featured, Inspiration, Motivation, Thoughts — MMC @ 10:28 am

Most of us have some treasured memories of events in our past, or we’ve saved items from loved ones who have passed on that have a special meaning to us. I recently came across a poem that my father had framed and was hung in is office for many years. It’s something that’s always had a special meaning to me and when times get tough, I simply recall the words from this poem… I hope you get as much from these powerful words as I do…

Don’t Quit

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems all up hill,
When the funds are low, and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don’t you quit.

Life is queer with it’s twists and turns,
As everyone of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won had he stuck it out.
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow,
You may succeed with another blow.

Success is failure turned inside out,
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far,
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit,
It’s when things seem worse,
That you must not quit.

  7. In the mid 60′s I went to a Salesian’s Bookfair and was given the same poem on a printed card.I gave that to my Mother as she was going through hard times, which she kept and cheries it to this very day. The Country is in Malta and long before internet was available for the masses, so distribution was only by print. The Author on this Card is UNKNOWN, and unless someone comes up with hard evidence as otherwise, is a fraudster trying to claim copyright for a quick buck denying tribute to the Unkown Author from the general Public of his brelliant inspiration and word of courage
